Corrections
We fix errors quickly and in the open.
- Tell us. Email [email protected] with the story and what's wrong. We read every message.
- Our words. If a fact line, chart or email we wrote is wrong, we fix it in the next edition, usually within a day, and note the correction in the next Toolbox Talk if it went out by email.
- Outlets' words. Headlines and reporting belong to the original outlet. If a source story is wrong, we point to the outlet's correction, or take the story down if it was retracted.
- Held stories. When outlets disagree on a figure, we hold the story until we know which is right, rather than guess.
